Perth Linux Users' Group

Next PLUG seminar

Title: "Linux Traffic Control"
When: Tuesday, 10th November 2009, 7:30pm - 9:00pm.
Where: 'Futuresphere', Christ Church Grammar School, Queenslea Drive, Claremont
Presenter: Patrick Coleman

Linux has a number of powerful built-in controls for classifying, shaping, and otherwise doing interesting things to streams data traffic on the internet or your local area network. I'll be talking about these, within the example of building a traffic shaper to manage and prioritise data traffic over a home ADSL connection.

Visitors and friends are most welcome. We will be ordering pizza for consumption when the talk is over, and possibly adjourning to a nearby pub for general discussion after the presentation.

Getting There

This month's seminar is being held in the 'Futuresphere', Christ Church Grammar School, located at:

Christ Church Grammar School
Queenslea Drive
Claremont WA

A map of the school with the Futuresphere and parking highlighted is located here.

To get to Queenslea Drive from the Freeway, jump off at Mounts Bay Road then take Stirling Hwy to Claremont (about 10 minutes past UWA). Having gone through Claremont, you'll see a stone church to the left; turn immediately left at the next set of lights (Queenslea Drive), and the school will be directly on your right.
